What Nano Banana 2 supports

The canonical YIR model is google/nano-banana-2, also known through aliases such as gemini-3.1-flash-image. It supports text-to-image and image-to-image workflows. Text prompts do not require an uploaded image; image workflows use uploaded reference images, and you should have permission to use those inputs.

The API exposes 0.5K, 1K, 2K, and 4K resolutions, with 1K as the default. Aspect ratio defaults to auto and also includes 21:9, 16:9, 3:2, 4:3, 5:4, 1:1, 4:5, 3:4, 2:3, 9:16, 4:1, 1:4, 8:1, and 1:8. Your Virvy interface may expose a smaller subset of these controls.

  • Use text-only prompts when you want a new composition without a reference image.
  • State the subject, setting, lighting, camera or layout, and the final use in that order.
  • Use an uploaded image only when it helps anchor a person, product, material, or composition; results can still vary.
  • Web search and image search are optional API controls. Image search requires web search, and availability or cost can depend on the selected product surface.

How to test these prompts

Run one prompt at a time and change one variable between attempts: ratio, resolution, reference image, or a single visual instruction. The prompts below are original suggestions, not copied gallery prompts, and none is presented as a verified output or a promise of perfect lettering, identity, or product geometry.

For text in an image, give the exact words and their placement, then inspect the result manually. For a product or person, upload only an image you are allowed to use and describe which visual traits should remain recognizable.

Copyable prompt ideas

1 · Product hero image

Create a clean studio product photograph of a matte cobalt-blue insulated bottle standing on a warm beige pedestal. Soft window light from the upper left, a quiet cream background, subtle contact shadow, 85mm lens look, centered composition, premium outdoor brand mood, no text or logo.

Suggested settings: Text to image · 4:3 · 1K

2 · Editorial portrait

Create an editorial portrait of a person wearing a charcoal linen jacket in a narrow sunlit hallway. Frame from the chest up, place the subject slightly right of center, use warm side light and a muted olive wall, natural skin texture, calm expression, documentary fashion photography, no words or watermark.

Suggested settings: Text to image · 3:4 · 1K

3 · Reference image wardrobe change

Use the uploaded portrait as the identity and pose reference. Change the clothing to a deep green knit sweater and place the person beside a rainy apartment window. Preserve the general face shape, camera angle, and shoulder position while changing the background and outfit. Keep the image realistic and free of text.

Suggested settings: Image to image · uploaded reference · 4:5 · 1K

4 · Packaging mockup

Create a front-facing packaging mockup for a fictional herbal tea called “MORNING LEAF”. Use a small cream box, dark green botanical line art, one simple leaf emblem, and a blank lower margin. Keep the title large and centered, with generous spacing and a clean retail shelf background. Spell the title exactly as written.

Suggested settings: Text to image · 1:1 · 2K

5 · Architectural material study

Create a daylight interior study of a compact reading nook with pale oak shelves, a terracotta chair, and a round paper lamp. Show the corner in a wide three-quarter view, with soft shadows and realistic wood grain. Keep the palette limited to oak, terracotta, off-white, and a small green plant.

Suggested settings: Text to image · 16:9 · 1K

6 · Reference product placement

Use the uploaded product photo as the object reference. Place the same object on a black stone counter in a quiet modern kitchen at blue hour. Preserve the object’s main silhouette and material while changing the environment, add one soft reflection, and leave clear negative space on the left for later layout work.

Suggested settings: Image to image · uploaded reference · 16:9 · 2K

7 · Illustrated travel poster

Design a vertical illustrated travel poster for a fictional coastal town. Show a red funicular climbing past white houses toward a blue sea, with bold flat shapes, a limited navy, coral, cream, and teal palette, and a large empty sky area. Add the exact title “NORTH HARBOR” at the top in clean uppercase lettering.

Suggested settings: Text to image · 2:3 · 1K

8 · Wide cinematic still

Create a wide cinematic still of a lone field observatory at dusk, surrounded by tall grass moving in the wind. The observatory dome catches the last orange light, the sky shifts from amber to deep blue, and a narrow path leads from the foreground to the door. Quiet science-fiction mood, realistic photography, no characters, no text.

Suggested settings: Text to image · 21:9 · 2K
